Board of Selectmen approves fiber-grant application and finance appointment.

TOLLAND — Board of Selectmen unanimously authorized Matt Ripley, Granville Fire Chief, to apply on behalf of Tolland for a $250,000 state fiber grant, with Tolland responsible for a $12,500 match. The board also unanimously appointed Joanne Duval to the Finance Committee. Tolland Fire Chief Eric Munson presented the Fire Department's FY27 budget request of $73,902, up from $54,272.50 in FY26, including a $20,000 chief's salary and $9,000 in volunteer stipends.

The board learned that a 911 communications project faces a $13,000 FY26 shortfall due to unexpected site work, grounding, and engineering-specified equipment at the Colebrook River Road tower, which is due upon execution in April.
